White Blossoms of the Evergreen Pear (Pyrus Kawakaimii)
Santa Barbara is awash with white blooms, the early spring explosions of the evergreen pear. The tree lines the city streets, grows in garden and parks – a tree which is easy to overlook year round when the shiny green leaves replace the lush white flowers.
Looking up though the dazzling white flowers, makes the blue sky even bluer. But don’t push your nose into the petals, you may be resented by feeding honey bees and the smell is not so pleasant!
